yeah art school how’ve you been

Urghhhhh I need to make some art to nourish my soul. Design can be dry and I hate rules. I want to be an artist.

After seeing Yoko’s show, I really want to make video art more than ever. Think I’m going to try and dedicate one afternoon or morning per week to make some art to try to maintain my practice while studying.

I got my timetable for Communication Design today and I will have some mornings and arvos free so I really don’t want to spend them all schlepping around.

Now that I know I’m not coming back to design school next year, it’s really hard to not give zero shits about all the stuff I have due and just bail on the rest of the year. Ahhhh. What do I have to prove…

I design clothes because I don’t want women to look all innocent and naïve…I want woman to look stronger…I don’t like women to be taken advantage of…I don’t like men whistling at women in the street. I think they deserve more respect. I like men to keep their distance from women, I like men to be stunned by an entrance. I’ve seen a woman get nearly beaten to death by her husband. I know what misogyny is … I want people to be afraid of the women I dress.

All the female lecturers in the design building at uni have professional photos where they are not looking at the lens. I will always look at the lens. Staring right back at ya, always.

Uh oh design school is beginning to take its toll- seeing badly formatted body text on a facebook event is beginning to make me feel personally offended.

God sometimes I feel so overwhelmed trying to maintain radness and trying to spend enough time thinking about my feminism and womanness and self care and love but then also be good at school and be informed in design but also maintain my own art and zines and recreational drawing and then also go to see people play music to nourish that part of my soul but then also have time to do enough yoga to keep the anxieties away and cook myself good meals and also make sure all my friends are ok too argh!!!
